Intensive German Course B1 in Halle (S.)

The Intensive German Course B1 in Halle (Saale) is open to everyone interested in improving their German intensively and reaching level B1. The course is suitable for international students and prospective students as well as anyone else who wants to improve their German language skills. The course lasts 9 weeks and combines in-person classes, self-study time and targeted exam preparation. At the end of the course, you take the IDSK B1 exam.

What does the course include?

In the Intensive German Course B1, you will systematically develop all four language skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking. The aim of the course is to develop your German language skills to level B1.

You will expand your vocabulary and improve your knowledge of German grammar.
You will practise communicating in German in typical everyday situations.
You will train your ability to understand spoken and written German.
You will practise expressing yourself orally and in writing at B1 level.
In addition, we cover current topics related to German culture and society and help you gain a better understanding of Germany.
Throughout the course, you will prepare specifically for the B1 exam and learn important exam strategies.
Classes take place in person four days a week. One additional day is reserved for self-study, including revision, vocabulary training and grammar exercises.

Which certificate will I receive?

The Intensive German Course B1 concludes with an IDSK B1 exam. After successfully passing the exam, you will receive an IDSK certificate confirming your German language level B1.

IDSK is a licensed telc and TestDaF examination centre.

Official German language examinations are regularly offered after each course. You can find the examination dates here. We will also provide information about upcoming exams during the course. IDSK course participants have priority when registering for these examinations.

What are the requirements?

The Intensive German Course B1 is suitable for participants aged 17 and over.

To participate in the B1 course, you need an A2 certificate. Ideally, you should have achieved at least 70% in each of the four examination sections: reading, listening, writing and speaking.

Can I apply for a visa under Section 16f of the German Residence Act (AufenthG) with this German course?

Yes. The Intensive German Course B1 at IDSK is generally suitable for applying for a visa under Section 16f of the German Residence Act (AufenthG). Whether a visa can be issued or extended depends on your individual situation and the decision of the responsible German diplomatic mission or foreigners’ authority.

The intensive course lasts 9 weeks and comprises 20 lesson units per week. The B1 course concludes with an IDSK examination at B1 level.
