Intensive German Course C1 in Halle (S.)

The Intensive German Course C1 in Halle (Saale) is open to international students, prospective students and anyone else who wants to further develop their German language skills and reach level C1. The course lasts 9 weeks and combines in-person classes, self-study time and targeted exam preparation. At the end of the course, you can take an official German language examination such as TestDaF, telc C1 or telc C1 Hochschule.

What does the course include?

In the Intensive German Course C1/C1 Hochschule, you will systematically develop all four language skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking. The aim of the course is to consolidate your German language skills at C1 level and prepare you for the linguistic demands of studying at a German university or working in a professional environment.

You will expand your academic and general vocabulary and deepen your knowledge of German grammar.
You will practise communicating confidently, precisely and effectively in German in academic, professional and everyday situations.
You will train your ability to understand demanding spoken and written texts from academic, study-related and social contexts.
You will practise expressing yourself clearly, coherently, precisely and convincingly in speaking and writing at C1 level.
You will learn to summarise complex content, analyse information, express your opinions and support your arguments convincingly.
You will practise important academic language skills such as giving presentations, participating in discussions, arguing your position, taking notes and working with specialist texts.
In addition, you will explore current topics related to German society, culture and higher education.
Throughout the course, you will prepare specifically for the C1 Hochschule examination and learn important examination strategies.
Classes take place in person four days a week. One additional day is reserved for self-study, including revision, vocabulary training, grammar exercises and further work on the course content.

Which certificate will I receive?

The Intensive German Course C1 concludes with an IDSK certificate of participation. After the course, you can take the TestDaF, telc C1 or telc C1 Hochschule examination at IDSK.

IDSK is a licensed telc and TestDaF examination centre. Official examinations are regularly offered after each course. IDSK course participants have priority when registering for these examinations.

What are the requirements?

The Intensive German Course C1 is suitable for participants aged 17 and over.

To participate in the C1 course, you need a B2 certificate. Ideally, you should have achieved at least 70% in each of the four examination sections: reading, listening, writing and speaking.

Can I apply for a visa under Section 16f of the German Residence Act (AufenthG) with this German course?

Yes. The Intensive German Course C1 at IDSK is generally suitable for applying for a visa under Section 16f of the German Residence Act (AufenthG). Whether a visa can be issued or extended depends on your individual situation and the decision of the responsible German diplomatic mission or foreigners’ authority.

The intensive course lasts 9 weeks and comprises 20 lesson units per week. The C1 course can conclude with an official examination TestDaF, telc C1 or telc C1H.
