Spend three and a half weeks in Lutherstadt Wittenberg and improve your German while experiencing Germany up close.
The International Winter Academy combines communicative German language classes with cultural studies, cultural activities and excursions. You learn German at your current language level and have many opportunities to use the language outside the classroom.
Wittenberg provides a unique setting for this experience: The city is known around the world for Martin Luther, the Reformation and its UNESCO World Heritage sites, while also offering the opportunity to discover contemporary Germany in a lively German town.

What to Expect
German Language Classes and Communication
- Placement test at the beginning of the course
- German language classes at different levels from A1 to C1
- Practice in the four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking
- Communicative activities and practical use of the German language
- Cultural studies focusing on Wittenberg, Germany, history, politics and society
- Project work and final activities
Experience Germany
Learning German with us does not take place only in the classroom. Excursions and an extensive leisure program give you the opportunity to discover Wittenberg and the surrounding region, experience German culture and use your German in everyday situations.

Learn at Your Level – Without Exam Pressure
The Winter Academy is open to German learners aged 17 and over with German language skills ranging from A1 to C1.
You will learn at your current language level and develop your German through communication, cultural studies, and the practical use of the language.
The Winter Academy is not designed to help participants complete an entire language level within three and a half weeks or prepare for an official language examination. Instead, the focus is on using German in practice, exchanging ideas with others, and experiencing Germany.
