11th Current Literature – Here’s What Germany Reads in 2022

If you enjoy reading and are interested in contemporary German literature but lack opportunities to discuss these books at home, this is the course for you! You will get a survey of the more recent and the latest publications of German literature before and after the fall of the Berlin wall, and get to know literature of migration and new publications from Leipzig’s Book Fair.

Here’s what you can expect:

Seminar

  • 08 a.m. – 11.15 a.m. or 02 p.m. – 5.15 p.m. Seminar on literature where you will not only familiarize yourself with the texts we will read, but also gain comprehensive insights into the history and socio-cultural backgrounds that are the context of these books.
  • Studying together with course participants from all over the world means you will get to know international authors and their works, and you will be able to share your favorite authors with them.
  • Writing or reciting, you can express yourself in creative ways yourself, broadening your language skills.
  • Individual counseling to improve your language abilities.
  • This course closes with a creative final project.

Time for Self-Study

Please plan to spend the same amount of time for homework and review outside of class as you spend in class.
